shenzhen meets budapest. on the morning of may 15, the "2015 china (shenzhen) – hungary (budapest) investment cooperation exchange meeting" themed "investing in shenzhen for a win-win future" was held in budapest, the capital of hungary. it was sponsored by invest shenzhen, and co-organized by the hungarian national innovation office and the hungary-china branch under the auspices of the hungarian chamber of commerce and industry. endre spaller, (deputy director of the hungarian national innovation), ducsai-oláh zsanett, (director of the hungarian national trading house), nádasi tamás, (president of the hungary-china branch under the hungarian chamber of commerce and industry), and other guests attended and spoke at the meeting. also present at the event were over 150 representatives from the information technology, bio-pharmaceuticals, energy conservation and environmental protection sectors, among others.
endre spaller, ducsai-oláh zsanett and nádasi tamás each made a speech, talked about the solid foundation for and looked forward to the bright future of further deepening all-round communication between shenzhen and hungary, and expressed their determination to exert their respective advantages to promote bilateral cooperation.
the director of division of general office of invest shenzhen, explained in detail the economic new normal and the "one road, one belt" strategy of china, and pointed out expressly that shenzhen was the optimal choice for entering china. he also said that the “one road, one belt” strategy created greater opportunities for further development of bilateral ties between the two countries, and hungary was already leading other central and eastern european countries in this regard. in addition, shenzhen and budapest were both strategic hubs for the construction of a "one road, one belt". both cities have vast cooperation potential in the areas of investment, trade and economy, science and technology, culture and tourism. shenzhen would be the best place for hungary to expand its presence in the chinese market.
a promotional video about shenzhen's investment environment was then played at the event, and an invest shenzhen staffer introduced the city's favorable business environment, and the six advantages for investors: it is the "capital of innovation led by technology", a “green, eco-friendly and livable city", a "metropolis of vitality with well integrated diverse cultures", a "quality-oriented special economic zone, a "reform pioneer emphasizing service and efficiency", and a "well-connected hub in the asia-pacific region".
emphasis was also placed on strengthening investment cooperation in the sectors of bio-pharmaceuticals, energy conservation, environmental protection, and information technology, among others. furthermore, the dapeng and bao'an district government officials respectively introduced the development positioning of and plan for dapeng, and the policies of bao'an for promoting the development of the modern services industry (including logistics), and answered questions raised by the corporate representatives. to allow the guests to better understand the investment and development condition of enterprises, mr. nádasi tamás, (chairman of aquaprofit), and mr. kiss zoltán, (president of mzk), who both have a congenial and long-term partnership with invest shenzhen, talked about their success in investing in and their ties with shenzhen, as well as specific matters that should be noted in making investment in china.
invest shenzhen also signed a framework cooperation agreement with kürt and mzk, under which the three parties would reinforce communication and cooperation in building an investment promotion network and providing services for investors.
the event generated tremendous response from the budapest residents, as the favorable investment environment of shenzhen and the promising prospect of bilateral cooperation attracted a large number of local people to attend it. guests from the local political and commercial circles and association representatives asked for promotional materials about the city, exchanged business cards, and enquired about specific issues concerning investment in shenzhen. some organizations, including the hungarian chamber of commerce and industry and the hungarian association of the environmental enterprises expressed they would soon organize interested enterprises to make a field visit to shenzhen. local mainstream media, including the national news agency of hungary, the budapest times, and bit port interviewed invest shenzhen onsite and fully covered the event.
during their stay in hungary, the invest shenzhen delegation launched large-scale investment promotion events focused on building overseas investment promotion networks. they also visited, together with the shenzhen economic & trade office in europe, local government agencies, trade associations and major enterprises, including the hungarian national innovation office, the hungarian association of the environmental enterprises, kürt, aquaprofit and mzk. the delegation reached consensus on future cooperation models and matters concerning investment and communication with these institutions, which further boosted the efficiency and purpose of investor services, and consolidated and expanded the overseas investment network of invest shenzhen. in addition, invest shenzhen had special discussions with aiming kubasi, director of the hungary-china technology innovation center, regarding the "innovation and entrepreneurship express train".
as a portal to central and eastern europe and the european union, hungary is situated at the center of europe, and features superior geographical advantages and well-developed transport and logistics sectors. with the accelerated development of bilateral ties in recent years, both countries have continuously expanded and deepened exchanges and cooperation in all areas, which has created favorable conditions and unique advantages for hungary to participate in the construction of the "one road, one belt", especially in terms of investment and trade. china is the second largest trading partner of hungary, second only to europe, while hungary is china's third biggest trading partner and largest investment destination in central and eastern europe.
there is strong economic complementation, and huge cooperation potential between the two nations. shenzhen-based enterprises have played a particularly critical role in promoting investment in and exchanges with hungary. for instance, huawei has set up its european supply center and logistics center in the country, establishing a logistics network covering europe, the cis, central asia and north africa. zte established its european regional network operations center and maintenance center in hungary, which provides network monitoring services to european and north american telecom operators and repair services to end users.
